Why Is My TikTok Stuck at 0 Views? What’s Actually Happening
You posted, refreshed, and it’s still at 0 views. Before you panic: here are the three real reasons — and how to tell which one is yours.

What does 0 views actually mean?
That sinking feeling when you refresh and the counter still says 0 is real — but the number itself is less dramatic than it feels. Views appear once a video starts being shown to people, and TikTok’s own explainer says “videos that have just been uploaded or are under review” may be ineligible for recommendation into anyone’s For You feed. TikTok doesn’t publish how long that early stage lasts.
So a fresh post at 0 is not, on its own, evidence of a “shadowban.” It’s a starting state. The question that matters is why it’s staying there — and there are only a handful of documented reasons.
What are the three real reasons?
Reading TikTok’s own guidance, a stuck-at-zero video usually traces to one of these:
| Reason | What’s happening | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Still in review | TikTok says content first goes through an automated review process; just-uploaded or under-review videos may not be recommended yet. | TikTok publishes no review time. |
| Low early response | The first viewers didn’t watch or interact much, so the video isn’t being shown more widely. | Can change as it reaches the right viewers — or not. |
| FYF ineligible | The content matches a For You feed ineligible standard, so it “won't be recommended in the FYF.” | Applies to that content; new, eligible posts are judged on their own. |
Only the third is what people mean by a shadowban — and TikTok describes it mainly at the content level, tied to a documented standard, not as a hidden punishment on your whole account. We cover the full list in TikTok’s For You feed eligibility standards.
How does the review window work?
TikTok describes the process in its Enforcement guidelines:
Content first goes through an automated review process. If content is identified as a potential violation, it will be automatically removed, or flagged for additional review by our moderators.TikTok Community Guidelines — Enforcement
While that happens, a video can show little or no distribution. For most posts the check simply passes and views begin to flow. If your video shows an “Under review” state, that’s the system working as designed — not a ruling. We break that down in what “Under review” means on TikTok.
The practical tell: give a new post some time — TikTok publishes no review time, so there’s no exact number to wait for. If views start climbing, it was simply the normal rollout. If it stays flat at 0 for a long stretch while your other recent posts perform, check the video’s analytics and look at the content itself.
Why is it usually not a ban?
This is the part most panic-posts get wrong. TikTok says plainly that low views aren’t proof of a problem:
If a video isn’t getting many views, it also doesn’t necessarily mean it broke a rule.TikTok Community Guidelines — For You feed Eligibility Standards
However, if one of your videos isn’t getting many views, it doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn't recommended for the For You feed.TikTok Creator Academy — Why is your video not getting recommended on the For You feed?
There is also no official “0-views shadowban” and no fixed timer attached to it. And if a video is made ineligible, TikTok says “this information will appear in the TikTok analytics tool” — so you can check instead of guessing. If you read a claim promising a video will “unlock” after an exact number of hours, or after a ritual like deleting the app, treat it as folklore — no TikTok source supports it.
What should you do right now?
- Give it some time before reacting. A just-uploaded video may not be recommended yet.
- Open the video’s analytics. Creator Academy says a warning bar appears at the top of the Performance tab if the video isn’t eligible for the For You feed.
- Check your Account status in-app. A clean status rules out account-level enforcement — see how to check your TikTok account status.
- Look at the video, not just the counter. Is it a repost showing someone else’s watermark or logo, a GIF-only clip, or unoriginal? Those are named FYF ineligible — more in reposts, watermarks and reach.
- Compare against your baseline. One quiet post means little; a pattern across recent posts is the real signal. A free visibility check gives you an estimate of that trend.

Questions, answered.
How long does a new TikTok stay at 0 views?
TikTok doesn’t publish a time. It says just-uploaded or under-review videos may not be recommended yet, and that content first goes through an automated review. If views start appearing, it was the normal process; a post that stays at 0 for a long time while your other videos perform is worth checking in analytics.
Does 0 views mean I’m shadowbanned?
Not by itself. TikTok says a video without many views doesn’t necessarily mean it broke a rule or wasn’t recommended. For You feed ineligibility — what people call a shadowban — is only one of three possible reasons, and TikTok says it appears in your analytics.
Should I delete a TikTok that’s stuck at 0 and repost it?
Deleting and reposting doesn’t “reset” anything TikTok documents, and if the original issue was the content (someone else’s watermark, an unoriginal clip, or a guideline problem), the repost will meet the same standard. Fix the content cause first, then post fresh.
Why do only some of my videos get 0 views?
Because For You feed ineligibility usually attaches to specific content — one video can match an ineligible standard (or land poorly with its first viewers) while the rest of your account performs normally.
