TikTok Engagement Rate Calculator Is it the video — or your reach?
Work out likes, comments and shares per 100 views, then compare with one of your usual videos. If views fell but engagement per view held, fewer people were shown the video — the fans who saw it still liked it.

Illustrative numbers. Your result uses the numbers you type in.
Views fell. Did your fans?
Fill in a video that underperformed, then a typical video from before. Every number is in TikTok’s analytics for that video.
One rate, one comparison.
Our own formula and thresholds, shown in full. No outside benchmarks — your usual video is the benchmark.
Engagement per View
(likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100. Saves are shown separately.
Views Change
This video’s views compared with your usual video’s views, in percent.
Engagement Change
This video’s engagement per view compared with your usual one, in percent.
The Reading
Views down 30% or more with engagement per view down less than 10% = “fewer viewers, same fans”. Both down = a weaker video. Otherwise, no clear reach signal.
The Inversion Pattern
Views fall while likes and comments per view hold — the video still works for the people who see it, but fewer people see it. The 30% line matches the minimum drop our app uses for this signal.
What this can’t tell you.
Two videos are a small sample. Treat the reading as one piece of evidence.
One Video Is One Video
Topics, sounds and timing vary. A single comparison can mislead — repeat it with a couple of videos, or let the real check use all your recent ones.

Views and engagement keep growing for a while after posting. A two-hour-old video against a two-week-old one isn’t a fair comparison.
It Can’t See TikTok’s Decisions
TikTok says if a video is made ineligible for the For You feed, it shows in that video’s analytics. Check there before drawing conclusions.

How do you calculate TikTok engagement rate?
There’s no single official formula. We use engagement per view: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100. Saves are shown separately when you add them, so the main number stays comparable with our app. Some tools divide by followers instead — that measures something else.
What is a good engagement rate on TikTok?
TikTok doesn’t publish a benchmark, and figures you see online use different formulas and samples. That’s why this calculator compares a video only with your own usual video — the comparison that actually says something about your reach.
Why does “views down, engagement held” suggest limited reach?
If a video were simply weaker, the people who saw it would usually engage less too. When engagement per view holds or rises while views fall, the video still lands with the people who see it — fewer people were just shown it. That often means it reached mostly people who already know you. It’s a sign, not proof.
What if both views and engagement fell?
Then the video most likely landed less well with viewers — a topic, hook or timing issue — rather than a reach limit. It’s still worth watching the next few videos.
Can this tell me if TikTok restricted my video?
No. Only TikTok knows that, and it says restrictions show in the video’s analytics and in Account status. This calculator gives you evidence for or against limited reach from your own numbers. The full check runs this comparison across all your recent videos automatically.
